Orders and Shipping

Can discount codes be combined or stacked?

Discount codes cannot be combined or stacked together. Our system will only allow one code to be entered at a time.  

When will my order ship?

Because we are a small business, our processing time for orders is 1-3 business days. Our team ships orders Monday-Friday. 

Once your order has shipped, you will also receive an email with the tracking confirmation.  

How long does shipping take?

Standard Shipping is estimated to be 5-7 business days excluding processing time. 

Expedited shipping takes 1-3 business days. Orders placed by 2 PM will ship the same day, while those placed after 2 PM will undergo processing the following business day. 

Please note, as a small business our orders are only processed Monday-Friday, so if you order during the weekend it may take extra time for your order to ship from our warehouse.

How do I track my order?

You will receive an email with your tracking link after your item has shipped. This usually takes a few days due to our processing time. Orders ship from our warehouse Monday-Friday.

If after 5 business days, you haven't received an email, you can reach out to our Customer Care team and they will be happy to help. You can email them at info@guarddog-security.com or submit a contact us request. 

Can I cancel my order?

If you would like to cancel your, please reach out to our Customer Service team as soon as possible. Due to a quick turnaround with orders, we cannot guarantee that a cancellation will be possible. If an order has already shipped, it cannot be canceled.

Do you offer International Shipping?

Unfortunately, we do not ship outside of the United States at this time.

Do you offer returns?

If you are not completely happy with your item or no longer need it, our Customer Care team is happy to help. 

We accept returns within 30 days of delivery.  Please note, that returned items cannot be used and must be in the same condition as the item arrived. Your item must also be in its original packaging. To begin a return, please email our Customer Care team at info@guarddog-security.com or fill out our Contact Us form. We ask that you include your original order number or receipt. 

Please note, that we do not cover the cost of return shipping. Once the returned item is received by our team, it will be inspected and you will be updated on the status of your refund by our Customer Care team. If the return is approved, your original form of payment will be refunded. It can take a few business days for the funds to appear in your account depending on your card issuer's policies.

If you would like to return an item after 30 days because of an issue or defect, please follow our warranty process. You can register your product here or file a warranty claim here. 

What if my package gets lost or arrives damaged?

If your item arrives damaged, please contact our Customer Care team by email at info@guarddog-security.com or by phone at 888-800-8440. We will be happy to assist. 

If you believe your package has been lost in transit, we ask that you wait at least 10 business days from the shipping date before contacting our Customer Care team. 

Do you offer a Satisfaction Guarantee?

If you aren't 100% happy with a Guard Dog Security product when you receive your order, you can reach out to our Customer Care team and they will be able to assist with a return.

Where do I add my discount or promotional code?

How does Pepper Spray feel?

When pepper spray gets on the skin or into the eyes, it causes an intense burning feeling. Additionally, pepper spray will cause pain, swelling, and blurry vision. It can even bring on temporary blindness. Pepper spray will also make it hard to breathe and cause coughing.

Touching or rubbing the affected areas will make the symptoms worse. If pepper spray is used in self-defense, an assailant may be weakened by these symptoms, giving you time to get away. 

How many uses are in a can of pepper spray?

The exact amount of uses, sprays, or bursts in a can of Pepper Spray will vary based on the size of the can, the PSI (pressure), and how long the spray button is held for. 

When using Pepper Spray, it is recommended to use multiple, short sprays, aimed at the attacker's eyes. As soon as you've made contact and they are distracted, you should run away and find help. 

A half-ounce can of Pepper Spray should be efficient in disabling an attacker. But, once you've used your Pepper Spray, it is impossible to tell how much product remains in the can. For this reason, you should immediately replace your Pepper Spray with a new can upon use.

How far can pepper spray reach?

Guard Dog Security Pepper Spray Products have a long-range distance of 16 feet! This doesn't include our Home Defense Foggers which have a maximum range of 45 feet, depending on the size. 

Our Pepper Products are specially formulated to reach up to 60% farther than other brands. This gives you the ability to keep the largest distance possible from an attacker.

Is pepper spray discreet or easy to hide?

Yes, Pepper Spray is very easy to hide or conceal because it is small and lightweight. You can carry it in your bag or a pocket or use the keychain feature to add it to your keys or purse strap. What is an actuator?

An actuator is the official term for the button on a spray can. This piece can also be called a spray head, spray button, spray nozzle, spray trigger, or activation button. 

The actuator controls the stream pattern and amount of product that is dispersed.

Should I practice using my Pepper Spray?

You should practice using your pepper spray so you are prepared in case you need to use it in a stressful situation! If you practice using the spray in advance, it will be easier to quickly deploy it and escape from any threats during an emergency. 

The safest way to practice using your Pepper Spray is with a Practice Kit! Our practice cans are filled with water so you can work on your quick reaction and aim without worrying about the effects of the pepper formula. 

Another reason to not use your actual can of Pepper Spray for practice is that you want to maintain the full amount of spray and the pressure level. Once you've used the can, even once, the pressure can decrease which affects the range the product can go.

When should I carry my Pepper Spray or Pepper Gel?

You can carry your Pepper Spray or Pepper Gel with you to most places! They are compact and easy to carry, making them both fit well into daily life. They can be attached to your bag, stashed in your pocket, or hung on your keychain.

We recommend carrying your Pepper Spray or Pepper Gel when traveling alone, commuting by bus or rideshare, walking your school campus, or any other time you would like some extra security. No matter how you choose to carry your Guard Dog Security Pepper product, you'll be confident and ready for anything.

What if I accidentally spray myself or come into contact with my Pepper Spray or Pepper Gel?

Pepper Sprays and Gels are safe when used as directed. But, if your Pepper Product comes into contact with your skin or eyes by accident you can follow these steps.

  1. Remove contact lenses immediately if you are wearing them.
  2. Rinse the affected area thoroughly with water or milk. Avoid rubbing!
    Rinsing with milk can help reduce the pain and duration because the fats in the milk help dilute the pepper oil.
  3. After rinsing for 10-15 minutes, wash your face with a gentle, non-oil-based soap.
  4. After washing, placing an ice pack wrapped in a towel over the affected area can also help reduce the burning sensation. 
  5. If irritation persists, seek medical attention.


Remember, it is crucial to follow the safety guidelines provided with the product for proper use and handling.

How long does it take for the effect of pepper spray to wear off?

The timing of pepper spray's effects will vary from person to person, but it usually takes around 30 minutes for the symptoms to fade. The exact timing can range from 15 - 45 minutes, with eye irritation and redness lasting up to 24 hours. 

The first few minutes after an assailant is sprayed are when the effects are the strongest. You should use this time to get away from the threat and find help.

Stun guns are handheld self defense tools that can help temporarily disable an attacker. They are compact and easy to carry, which makes them a popular device for personal safety. 

Most stun guns have two prongs on the end of the device, which will spark when turned on. When the device comes into contact with a person, it delivers a high-voltage electrical shock. This shock can cause muscle spasms, pain, and disorientation. A stun gun is a great self defense tool because while an assailant is distracted, the victim can run away and get help. 

Are a stun gun and a Taser the same thing?

Not exactly! Taser™ is a brand name of a stun gun device and not something we carry. Stun guns need physical contact to work, so you must be within arm’s reach. But, stun guns do not need to be registered. Guard Dog Security stun guns are designed to be practical when carried daily.Taser™ is a brand of device that can be fired from long distances and they are considered lethal in some cases. Typically, you are required to have a CWL license to carry a taser. Plus, you must register the product upon purchase. Because of this, carrying a Taser™ everywhere you go may not be practical.

How bright is the flashlight in your flashlight stun guns?

Our tactical flashlights are designed to be very bright. Their lumen output ranges between 110 and 400 depending on the model. Our flashlights with higher lumen ratings will have an intense light that reaches farther.

Stun Gun Usage Questions

How does a stun gun work?

A stun gun is a self-defense tool that releases an electric shock from one end of the device. This device is useful when used against an attacker because its painful shock will distract them. Giving you time to get away and call for help. 

When the stun feature of the tool is activated, it sends out a high-voltage electrical current. The sound it makes is a loud zap and at times can be enough to scare away threats. When the current makes contact with a person it is not only painful, but a literal shock to their body. This will distract them and may also temporarily disorient a person, giving you time to run away.

How do I safely use a stun gun?

Stun guns are tools that should only be used for self defense. If you find yourself in a dangerous situation, you can follow these steps to safely use your stun gun. 

  1. Aim for the attacker's chest or back, avoiding the head and face. If you cannot reach this area, the best touch points for your stun gun are anywhere between the neck and hip area. As well as underarms, thighs, or behind the knees.
  2. Send a short burst of electricity by pressing the button or switch on your stun gun. Do not hold for more than 5 seconds.
    Reminder: Be aware of your surroundings. Avoid using a stun gun near water or other conductive surfaces.
  3. Once the attacker is disabled or distracted, get away. Seek help from others nearby if you can and call the police. 
Will my stun gun work through clothing?

In most situations, your stun gun will be able to work through clothing. The stun will penetrate a standard t-shirt or other single-layered fabrics. But, there are some cases where it may not work as well. This includes multiple layers of clothing or thicker fabrics like a military-grade jacket. 

When possible, exposed skin will always be the best touch point to use with your stun gun. Aim for anywhere between the neck and hip. Other ideal points of contact are underarms, thighs, or behind the knee. 

Remember, your stun gun device should only be used for personal defense against an attacker.

How effective is a stun gun?

A stun gun is an effective tool because it can help distract an attacker when it is used for self-defense. In some cases, it can even temporarily disable them, giving you more time to get away and find help.

These moments can include finding your car in a dark parking lot, taking your dog out at night, or walking alone in an unfamiliar area. Anytime you feel uncertain, you can carry your stun gun, having it ready in case you need it. 

Stun guns are legal in most places for use as self defense. Just be sure to know the laws in your area, including specific rules for private businesses. 

If I need to use my stun gun, what is the best point of contact to use?

Only use your stun gun device for personal defense against an attacker! 

When using your stun gun, the best points of contact are between the neck and hip area. The nerve centers at those points will give the strongest result, allowing you to disable the person and get away.  

Other common touch points you can use include: 

  • Hip
  • Torso
  • Thighs
  • Underarms
  • Behind the knees

Stun Gun Charging Questions

What kind of batteries does my stun gun use?

Our rechargeable flashlights and stun guns have different battery types, depending on the model. They will either have a built-in battery or a removable rechargeable lithium-ion battery. Some of our Stun Guns can even be plugged directly into an outlet, no charging cord needed. 

Specific battery types will vary by product and you can view all of our options here. 

How often should I recharge my or stun gun?

We recommend that your stun gun be recharged about 1-3 times per month, depending on how often it's used. You should charge it at least once monthly to ensure that it's charged in the even you need to use the stun feature. 

How long should I recharge my stun gun?

Charge time will vary by product, but the average time needed for the first charge is 6-10 hours. After the initial charge, the average time needed for a full charge is 2-4 hours.

Should the charging light on my stun gun turn off or green when it's finished charging?

The LED charging indicator will turn ON/red when the unit is plugged in, and the indicator will remain ON/red to indicate a successful charge, even after a successful charge is complete. Models may vary by charging functions and your manual will list specifics.

Please note, that there is a reported misprint on some instructions and our team is aware. We are working to correct this for the future! The red light indicates the unit is charging successfully and the light will remain on until you unplug the unit. 

Will my stun gun overcharge?

Many Guard Dog Security products are equipped with an overcharge prevention mechanism. This feature prevents the product from malfunctioning due to prolonged charging after the battery is full. However, to increase the life of your product, we recommend to only charge your product as needed. This is typically 1-3 times per month depending on how often it's used. 

Can I use other rechargeable batteries in my stun gun?

We recommend that you only use the original batteries that were provided with your product. The product has been tested with these and inserting non-authorized batteries will void your Lifetime Warranty.

Stun Gun Troubleshooting

Why is there only one spark on my tactical stun gun?

Stun guns are designed to work on contact. This means they must touch something to fully engage. 

Due to the concealed prong design on some of our stun guns, it is common that only one prong will appear to light up when testing the tool. This is not a defect. 

Using caution, you can further test your stun gun. We recommend doing this outside, in an open space. Take a sheet of paper and carefully place it on top of the probes. When turning the stun gun on, you should see both sparks light up.

If you are still experiencing any difficulties, please file a warranty claim and our Customer Care team will be happy to assist further. 

What if the slide switch for my stun gun fell off or I lost it?

No worries, the sliding switch on some of our stun gun and flashlight models is made to detach so this can happen. 

If you still have the switch piece, you can reattach it and secure it with super glue. Just put a dab of glue in the well of the cover before you replace the slide switch. 

If you have lost the slide switch piece, we can still help!

If you bought the item in the last year then, it is still covered by the warranty. You can fill out a claim here and our Customer Care team will assist in sending a replacement part. 

If it has been over 1 year since you purchased your stun gun or flashlight, unfortunately, it is no longer covered by warranty. But, you can buy replacement switch parts here for a small charge. After placing your order, our team will email you to confirm what model of stun gun or flashlight you have. This makes sure we ship the correct part to you.

What products are covered by the Lifetime Warranty?

All Guard Dog Security products are covered by our Guard Dog Lifetime Warranty. This program means that you can buy our products with confidence. We believe our customers should be completely worry-free when purchasing a self-defense security product. To take advantage of the warranty, please register your product within 30 days of purchase and submit your proof of purchase. You can register your product here. If you experience a product issue or defect, please submit a warranty claim here.

Are there any exemptions to your Lifetime Warranty?

Our Guard Dog Lifetime Warranty applies to all Guard Dog Security products that were purchased from authorized channels and registered on our website within 30 days of purchase. However, some products may have exceptions.

You must physically have your product when filing a warranty claim, so please do not throw away defective products.

Our lifetime warranty exemptions include:

  • Limited, one-year warranty for holsters, charging cables, cradles, and batteries of any type used in connection with products furnished.
  • Product malfunction or failure because of misuse, modifications, alterations, improper installation, maintenance, storage, or product disassembly.
  • Normal wear and tear such as broken zippers, detached backpack handles, torn seams/fabric, burnt-out lightbulbs, or broken flashlight lenses

Are bulletproof backpacks legal?

In the US, owning a bulletproof backpack for personal protection is legal. This means that our bulletproof backpacks can be carried in most places.

Can I fly with my Bulletproof Backpack and is it approved by the TSA for travel?

Guard Dog Security Bulletproof Backpacks are designed to follow TSA regulations and guidelines. They categorize our backpacks as body armor, which is approved for both carry-on and checked bags. Please note this only includes domestic travel within the US and full details can be found on tsa.gov.

What materials are your bulletproof backpacks made with?

Our bulletproof backpacks are constructed with nylon on the outside. It's used in various combinations, depending on the backpack model.

How should I clean my bulletproof backpack?

Our bulletproof backpacks are spot-clean only. 

DONOT put your backpack in a washing machine or dryer as it may damage the bag.

To spot clean, you can follow these guidelines:

  • Use mild soap (no fragrances or additives)
  • Soft nylon bristled bush (ex: toothbrush)
  • Use lukewarm water and brush sparingly
  • Hang the bag in the shade or indoors, not in direct sunlight (UV light may degrade the fabric)
  • Zippers may need occasional cleaning to remove fine sand, dust, and other particles. 


Be careful not to scrub as many zippers have water-resistant coatings that can rub off with force.

What is a tactical pen?

A tactical pen combines the normal function of a traditional pen, with a self-defense tool. The additional features of this pen are useful for personal safety and emergency situations. 

Our tactical pen is designed to be a discreet, but powerful device. It's the size of a normal ballpoint pen. But, it is made of durable materials and includes a sharp glass breaker. 

How do I use a tactical pen for self-defense?

Before you use a tactical pen for self-defense, you should understand its features. You should also practice using the pen so you are prepared if you need to use it in an emergency. 

There are multiple uses for a tactical pen. You can follow the steps below for the most common use cases. 

Glass Breaker:

  • Firmly hold the tactical pen.
  • Point it at the glass and use your thumb to support the opposite end.
  • Strike the glass repeatedly until it shatters.


Defense Tool:

  • Hold the pen in your hand with a strong grip.

What kind of battery does my flashlight or stun gun use?

Do I have a Lifetime Warranty on my battery as well?

Our rechargeable batteries are covered by our warranty for one year, not including lifecycle usage and normal wear and tear. If your device uses external batteries, additional batteries can be purchased here.

The battery I received, is not the same color as the one on the website.

No worries, sometimes replacement batteries will vary in color, depending on inventory. They may arrive in a variety of colors. The image on our website is a standard battery, but as long as your battery says it is model 18650 3.7 V, it will work.
